Barbara speaks and lectures globally on her integrative approach to supporting couples having difficulties conceiving. She has spoken at many of the Fertility Shows and Fertility Fest.
Alongside her own busy clinics, she also trains practitioners in providing this integrative, approach to fertility and reproductive healthcare and well-being. The ARR (Association of Reproductive
Reflexologists) has trained practitioners globally, from Australia, New Zealand, USA, Europe and most areas of the UK and Ireland.
Her expertise and passion is in advocating a patient-centred and integrative approach to supporting both men and women on their journey to parenthood.
She is currently undertaking a PhD to explore the effects of reflexology in supporting those experiencing difficulties in conceiving. The aim is that through research we are able to make this
approach more widely available to those wishing to use this approach when trying to conceive.
Presentation:
Levels of fertility are falling globally and whilst some may believe that may have a positive impact upon the already overstrained resources that our planet can provide, it does present the human race
with a plethora of issues that cannot be overlooked. We can accommodate some fall in the birthrate but it needs to be sustained at a certain level to provide the lifestyle that we have all become
accustomed to, and we have an ageing population.
Male fertility alone has declined by 60% in the last three decades and that has caused a huge increase in medical interventions. This usually means that women are being “treated” for what are,
in fact, male factor issues. These interventions can include taking a range of drugs to ensure that they are ovulating all the way through to IVF/ICSI, which are hugely invasive and can be incredibly
stressful.
The World Health Organisation recently announced that 1 in 6 couples globally are now struggling to conceive.
Reflexology has an enormous role to play in supporting couples and individuals when they are on a conception journey. The very best approach for these clients is an integrative one. It allows us as practitioners to understand what might be the issue, allows us to measure progress and also suggest appropriate referral pathways to further medical testing. The more information we have the more
accurately we can support clients on their journey to becoming a family.

Reflexology as an integrative approach is key to ensuring that we are able to play a role in preserving the current birth rate and supporting clients who find themselves in such a difficult and stressful
position
